Neo Genevieve Sebothoma

Imagine walking into a room full of people and you see a print of yourself hanging on the wall. Imagine walking into a room and seeing a beautiful quality print of your favourite musician, your favourite DJ, or your favourite music venue to take with and hang in your home. What would you do?Presenting us with never-seen-before-imagery captured over the past couple of years is seasoned cultural photographer, DJ and overall creative, Neo Genevieve Sebothoma. Probably one of the most mysterious photographers and archivists of our time, Neo has afforded the 2nd Annual Sumthin Brown 10-hour Show the privilege of exhibiting and selling her work which, for the most part, has been hidden from the public eye. Even I have never seen the many photographs she's taken of me over the past 3 years

Palesa-entle

On the exhibition bill is another talented and easy-going spirit I have come to grow fond of in a very short space of time. Founder and curator of Her Skin Speaks, Palesa-entle is a healer, long-standing nude photographer, record collector and selector, as well as founder of health and wellness line known as Mpande Candles, and she is gifting the 2nd Annual Sumthin Brown 10-hour Show with a special exHERbition titled “What Do We Call Women Who Have Lost Children?”, which highlights the trauma that comes with losing a child/children prior to or post-birth. It’s an attempt to address female trauma on the subject matter, to address what women who have lost children feel, how they see themselves and how they heal.Over the years, Her Skin Speaks’ story and lens has widened and grown. Since their exhibition with Vavasati International Festival at the South African State Theatre in 2019, Her Skin Speaks has hosted exHERbitions in different venues such as The Afrikan Freedom Station, Bifty's in Mamelodi, Cafe What? in Lesotho, U-The Space and MB Studios.
